Going in to yesterday's OB appointment, I already had a pretty good hunch that I was not going to be leaving my bed anytime soon. The day before I was contracting most of the afternoon, evening, and was awakened by more painful contractions at 1 a.m.
My blood pressure was up at the doctor's office so they had me lay in a recliner with a "non-stress test" monitor on for over an hour. They retook my pressure but it was still reading high so I am now having more blood tests and I am collecting a 24-hour urine sample (this is my third time so I am getting really good at transferring my sample without spilling!). As those of you who have been pregnant know well, there is a lot of peeing that takes place in this time frame so having to carefully contain, transfer, and refrigerate is a part-time job (I know...not like I have so many other pressing things to do right now).
Dr. Tracy (my OB) has now increased my anti-contraction medication from "as needed" to round-the-clock (every 6 hours). I will be going in to see her each week from this point forward with two additional appointments for the non-stress tests (this is where they hook me up to a machine and monitor the baby kicking as well as her heart rate). I will also be seeing the Perinatologist for my amniotic fluid measurements.
Gabriel has been adjusting pretty well to my inability to play. He comes and lays next to me to watch movies and often just puts his head on my tummy...sometimes he gives his sister kisses other times he wants to pray. I am so fortunate to have such a tender spirited little boy.
I can't say enough about all of the people who have stepped forward to offer their support. From being covered by prayer to the gift of a full-schedule of babysitters (Andi...thank you for taking the lead and making a spreadsheet!) to a yummy pot of chicken soup, we are experiencing your love quite tangibly for our family.
Much love back to you,
The Kings

Michelle, I'm so sorry for what you are going through. From what I know you are better at adapting than you give yourself credit for. This little girl will be lucky to have you as her mom! If you are bored on bedrest watch last night 11/11 epidsode of Glee.
You are in my prayers!
