A week ago on Sunday we celebrated Gabe at the Beach with a couple's shower thrown by our friends (and Gabe's Godparents) Tim and Jodi. It was amazing! From competitive games like "baby tunes boggle" where in teams we came up with songs that had the word baby (apparently the use of the word "baby" is not always used in songs to reference the sweet little bundle of joy) to yummy German chocolate cake to incredible gifts including our car seat from the Vanguard crew and books galore!
While we were at the beach, Jodi took some shots to capture my pregnancy. I thought I would post a few. The second one includes Vanguard folks Andi, Bethany, Kristin, Linda, and Kirsten. Fun fact Bethany, Kristin, Linda and I all have Bethel University roots in MN.

The third picture is of Carol and I. We were in grad school together and often find ourselves out as couples eating sushi or Indian food...yum! Last night we were honored to attend Carol and Duncan's wedding overlooking Laguna Beach.
In youth ministry one of the icebreakers that we would use to check-in was called "Highs" and "Lows". The past couple of weeks were mixed with both for us.
High: We found a pediatrician! Our good friend Diane, who is a nurse, recommended Dr. Pellman and after meeting him, I am really excited that he will be caring for our son. He has a great sense of humor, is a HUGE advocate for breastfeeding, and seems like he has a creative and conversational approach to medicine.
High: We finished Gabe's room! His crib is assembled and all of the random items that adorned that space have now found new homes.
High: I finalized my internship at Journey's Counseling Ministry. This is the site I have been at since I was a trainee. I will now be transitioning to an internship role until I am licensed (which could take until 2013 or until Jesus comes back...whichever comes first). The concept of the center fits my vision for counseling as they are a Christian organization that reaches out to churches inviting them to allow us to become extensions of their staff vs. having every church try to run their own center. I will be able to continue to create my own schedule so that I can be with Gabe as much as possible.
Low: Vanguard laid off staff this past week due to budgets. Some of the people that are leaving are not only dear friends of ours but they have impacted this place and our students in ways that words cannot describe. Jeremey has been in many meetings and comes home emotionally spent each day. We invite your prayers as we walk through this time.
