Teedle-Deedle-Dee

This Fall Gabriel and I were fortunate to be able to return to Minnesota not just once but twice. In October, we celebrated my Grandma Laura's birthday with a dinner at the local Applebee's. After dinner, we went back to the farm for dessert. There, my Grandpa took Gabriel into his arms and locked eyes with him singing a few of his swedish accented "teedle-deedle-dees." That night was the last outing we would have with both my Grandparents, outside the confines of a hospital. Unfortunately, by the time that we arrived in November, my Grandpa was too sick with infection to be able to host little visitors. How grateful I am that moment was captured between Great-Grandpa and his sweet boy!

I look at my son and see the joyful likeness that he shares with a man who he was only privledged to know ever so briefly. Our third trip home was to honor my Grandpa at his funeral. My Grandpa Vernon died on December 20, 2008 just seven days after celebrating his 82 birthday.
