From Baptism to Sin City

One of my hopes was to have a baby by the time I reached the third decade of life and so to wrap up the last day of January, I went ahead and turned thirty! The celebration of my life was made sweeter as I looked at my little boy...I couldn't have asked for a better gift. If that were not enough, my friend Jennifer cleared her schedule for a few days and came to California to team up with Jeremey to throw me a surprise party.

Shortly after she left, Pastor Glenn and his beautiful wife Joan arrived from Canada to baptize Gabe. February 3rd Gabriel was baptized at HOPE with the entire WLCH congregation, Vanguard staff and students, his Godparents Tim and Jodi, and both of our sets of parents there to witness. Gabe was not as concerned with the ceremony as he was with breastfeeding and to let us know he shed quite a few loud, heartbreaking tears.

Once we had him baptized we loaded up our rental mini-van and together with my parents we drove to Las Vegas. I am pretty sure this is the way that every pastor's child should celebrate their baptism. We spent the week in my parents timeshare and were honored by a visit from my auntie Louise and her sweet husband Mel. Highlights of the trip included a return visit to the Paris Steakhouse for my birthday, playing cards in our room, going to the jacuzzi, shopping, and having a date night at Cirque Du Solei's Beatles Love Show.

To pay for our date nights we all decided to go to hear a timeshare presentation where they gave you tickets to a show or a $75 Visa card...I can think of less painful ways to earn a buck...donating plasma or possibly rolling around on a bed of sharp nails (do people get paid for that?)

While we were on vacation, Gabriel starting smiling, increased his floor play time, and began sleeping longer stretches in the night. Currently we are averaging eight hours of solid sleep! When we arrived home, we decided to test out the Bumbo seat (see pics). Gabe sometimes finds it amusing and other times well...I think it's still growing on him...smile.

We just got the clearance yesterday from the doctor to fly in May! We can't wait to bring Gabriel to Minnesota to introduce him to all his friends and family. Oh and for those of you that are keeping tabs on his weight he is now 9lbs. 3 oz. which means that his mommy had to put away his tiny newborn outfits this week (tear).

Love to you all!

Michelle, Jeremey, and Gabriel
